Establishment of RECIST working group

The Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumours (RECIST) working group is established in collaboration with the NCI USA, NCI Canada, Canadian Cancer Trials Group (CCTG), with involvement of several pharmaceutical companies, to provide a simple and pragmatic methodology for evaluating the activity and efficacy of new cancer therapeutics in solid tumours.

The RECIST criteria are still used to this day to assess changes in tumour burden during treatment.
