Professor Iwona Lugowska, Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology (MSCI), Warsaw, Poland.

Professor Iwona Lugowska is Plenipotentiary Director for International Affairs, Head of the Early Phase Clinical Trials Unit, Leader of Centre of Excellence for Precision Oncology, Coordinator of the Centre for Research and Development, and Consultant in Oncology in the Department of Soft Tissue/Bone Sarcoma and Melanoma at the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology (MSCI), in Warsaw, Poland. Professor Lugowska finished Early Career Investigator’s Leadership Programme, and later became a board member of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), Chair of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Educational Publications Working Group, and a member of the Ethics Committee at MSCI.

Professor Lugowska received an award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) IDEA Program 2010, visited the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York (mentor – Robert Maki), and had a fellowship in the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre, Newcastle (mentor – Ruth Plummer).

Her main fields of interest are sarcoma, melanoma research, immunotherapy, precision oncology, as well as early-phase clinical trials. She also developed a Clinical Support System for the management of gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST).
